The Dutch Oven allows one to really enhance the quality of ones menu while canoe tripping. Things like muffin cakes, chocolate cakes, croissants, bannock breads and cinammon rolls can create wonderful smells around camp, not to mention good eating. Ensuring that people get enough to eat to replenish the energy they expend while being active all day is easier when food is fresh and tastes wonderful. The Dutch Oven makes this a reality.
The students will research a recipe and use the dutch oven to make it. The students of the class will sample the food and provide their feedback. The cooks will then share their recipe on the comment section to this post, along with a brief description of the preparing, cooking and final product of the recipe.

Food Dehydration Recipes
The students have taken on the challenge to dehydrate food that would be functional for an extended canoe trip. With the realization that perishable foods don't last long enough and are heavy to carry over portages, the goal is to research and try recipes that will add variety and nutrition to a canoe trip menu.
Students will use the dehydrator to complete the recipe and use the other students as taste testers. Then they will provide the recipe, a brief description of the taste and share the things they have learned during the process of making it as a comment attached to this post.
